Process

Introduction

Roger Vejarano's creative process combines observation of everyday Peruvian life with the traditional technique of oil on canvas.

Each work is born from the search to capture scenes that are part of the country's cultural memory: Lima streets, local traditions, and seascapes.

Inspiration

The inspiration comes from observing places and scenes that are part of Peruvian identity.

The old streets of Lima, with their balconies, trams and colonial architecture, the traditional scenes of everyday life and the landscapes of the Peruvian sea are recurring themes in the artist's work.

These scenes seek to preserve moments of everyday life and convey the atmosphere and character of each place.

Sketch and composition

Before starting the painting, the composition of the work is developed.
This stage defines the distribution of elements, the perspective, and the overall atmosphere of the scene.

The goal is to find the visual balance that allows each element of the painting to contribute to the narrative of the work.

Oil painting

The works are created using oil on canvas, a classic painting technique that allows for working with layers of color and achieving depth and chromatic richness.

Oil paint offers a long drying time, allowing you to model shapes and work on light and shadow transitions in detail.

Spatula technique

A distinctive feature of the work is the use of the spatula, a tool that allows the application of oil paint with greater texture and expressive force.

This technique creates reliefs and layers of paint that add movement, volume, and a more dynamic feel to the surface of the canvas.

The combination of spatula and brush allows for contrasts between detail and texture.

Details and completion

In the final stage, the details that define the atmosphere of the work are worked on: lights, reflections, characters and architectural elements.

Each painting is developed until it achieves the balance between composition, color, and texture that characterizes the artist's style.

Signature of the work

Once completed, each work is signed by the artist as a guarantee of authenticity and as the final part of the creative process.
